I’m Caroline Fryar. I’m the Farm Manager at Juniper Moon Farm in Palmyra, Virginia, and I want to keep being a shepherd for the rest of my life.
As such, you can probably guess that I like everything in the world to do with sheep– not just husbandry, but spinning and knitting, too. I also like things that are old-fashioned but useful (Greek & Latin, handsewing, gardening, preserving food, cooking, bikes!), pretty things (abashedly, fashion; unabashedly, Southern culture), intellectually challenging things (political philosophy, literature, feminism) and, above all & most importantly, taking care of a Good Thing.
This is my website; you can send email to carolinefryar AT gmail DOT com; I’m carolinefryar both on ravelry and twitter, so, please, say hello!

Caroline,So impressed with your golden yarns, and your wheel.Grace Hackney sent your site my way.I am Joy Kwapiens neighboe and a member of CGUMC.I”m the potter turned spinner here in Cedar grove.Would love to get the spinning meets going again out here.Seems you have a lot to teach Joy and I.I actually thought I was doing pretty good until I saw your work.Again, very impressed.Hope to meet you soon, Gayle
Thank you! the yarns I guess I can take credit for, but the lovely wheel was a gift from my lovely parents. I’m so glad Grace was good enough to facilitate our meeting one another– I’m so looking forward to our meeting on Thursday!
the connection between potting & spinning sounds really interesting. how did you switch from one to the other? and are they at all similar (I have no idea how potting works, other than that there’s a wheel involved)? I guess I can ask you all of this Thursday, though.
My name is Caroline Fryar. I am a very-nearly-graduated student of the Classics at UNC-Chapel Hill. I will happily talk all day about Greek & Latin Literature, Bicycles, Cooking, Hiking, and any recently published article in the New York Times.
Hey, you need to update this! “I am a recently graduated student of Classics…”
Congratulations again!
just updated! thanks for letting me know, Dad.
Hi! I stumbled on your blog while I was reading about Kate’s Peerie Flooers patterns. I love the way you modified the pattern into a vest! It looks great on you. I look forward to reading more about your knitting adventures!
Hi, Caroline! Found your blog – who knew??? after I Tweeted the Findlay success (BRAVO AGAIN!) to the world such as I know it.
How to subscribe to your blog? Can’t see a ‘how to” here.
